Astron Belt is an early laserdisc video game and third-person space combat rail shooter, released in 1983 by Sega in Japan and licensed to Bally Midway for release in the United States. Developed in 1982, it is commonly cited as the first laserdisc game. The game's unveiling at the 1982 AMOA show in Chicago marked the beginning of laserdisc fever in the videogame industry, and its release in. Over time, MAME (originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus. Things are slowly getting back to normal on Indie Retro News after my earlier computer failure, as we are pleased to announce ReImagine Games via Earok on the EAB forums, has released an update to the LaserDisc game 'Road Avenger ' for the Commodore Amiga. This game was announced as a first for the Amiga last year, when prior to that it was both an Arcade LaserDisc game and later ported over to the Sega CD by the original team.
Unlike Time Gal 'Road Avenger' was a game that stuck in the minds of many as it wasn't just a Laserdisc game but it also appeared as a common title found with the Sega MegaCD. Plus it was a better game for its time being that most kids preferred cars and less so of Anime girls. Thankfully with it appearing on the Amiga all of us will be able to enjoy it, because as the website write up says 'you can engage in a relentless, vengeful car chase against RRR thugs, in order to wipe them off the highway and take your sweet revenge for the murder of your beloved wife!'
